WHAT IS BIODYNAMIC CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY (BCST)?

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a modern approach to craniosacral healing rooted in the Osteopathic tradition.
When the nervous system is compromised due to tissue tightness, it can lead to various physical issues such as pain, discomfort, motor delays, anxiety, and impaired function. BCST employs a gentle, hands-on technique to relax tissues and structures, particularly those affecting the central nervous system. By releasing deep-seated tension, this therapy helps alleviate pain, improve function, and support the body's natural healing processes.
Through gentle contact with areas of need, BCST aims to normalise the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, removing blockages and enhancing the body's self-healing abilities.
A typical session begins with a discussion of the client’s history and treatment goals, followed by hands-on therapy while the client rests on a massage table.
"To be heard is to be healed, and to be deeply heard is to be deeply healed"

What is Craniosacral Therapy?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment that works with the body’s natural rhythms to release deep tension, support nervous system regulation, and restore balance. It’s subtle but powerful, ideal for anyone seeking physical, emotional, or mental relief without invasive techniques.
Where does CST come from?
Developed by osteopath Dr. John Upledger in the 1970s, CST is rooted in osteopathy and based on the concept that the body has its own wisdom and rhythm. By tuning into the craniosacral rhythm, the slow pulse of cerebrospinal fluid, practitioners can identify and release restrictions, helping the body self-correct and heal.
What does a session involve?
When you arrive, one of our friendly receptionists will welcome you. You’re welcome to relax in the waiting area before or after your session and help yourself to some water. I’ll personally greet you and bring you into the treatment room. We’ll start with a brief conversation to go over your health history, any current concerns, and what you’d like to focus on during your session. This helps ensure the treatment is tailored to your needs. Please wear comfortable clothing, as you’ll remain fully clothed during the session. You’ll be asked to remove your shoes and get comfortable on the massage table. If needed, we can adjust the height of the table to assist you. A light or warm blanket is available for extra comfort. Before we begin, I’ll explain what you may experience during the session and answer any questions you may have. The treatment involves very gentle, non-invasive touch—so subtle that at times, you may not even notice my hands. Many people find the experience deeply calming and often enter a peaceful, meditative state.

How often should I book?
The frequency of Craniosacral Therapy sessions varies from person to person and depends on your unique needs, goals, and how your nervous system responds to treatment. Some clients notice meaningful shifts within just a few sessions, while others may choose to engage in longer-term support—especially if working through deeper patterns or trauma. You might also prefer a slower, more spacious pace to support your body's natural rhythm and integration process. We’ll regularly check in together to review your progress and make sure the frequency of sessions continues to support your healing journey. For a deeper connection and longer-lasting results, we generally recommend starting with 4–6 sessions. This allows time for your body to build trust, settle into the work, and begin making sustainable changes. ✨ Looking for a cost-effective option? Is craniosacral therapy same as Reiki?
While both Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and Reiki are gentle, non-invasive healing modalities, they are quite different in their focus and approach. Reiki works primarily with the energetic body, using energy transfer through the practitioner’s hands to support emotional and energetic balance. Craniosacral Therapy, on the other hand, uses a whole-body approach, listening to cues from the physical body, specifically the craniosacral system, which includes the bones, tissues, and fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord. CST uses light touch to release restrictions and support the healthy flow of cerebrospinal fluid, helping to rebalance the nervous system and support the body’s natural healing processes. Both therapies can be deeply restorative in their own way. ✨ The best advice? Try both and let your body decide. At different points in your journey, you may find yourself drawn to one or the other—or even both. Trust your gut. The most important thing is finding what supports you best. Keep going until you find the right fit for your healing journey. You deserve that support.

Hello!
I'm Michelle Josephine Farrelly (known as 'MJ' Helping Hand). Originally from Ireland, I moved to Australia in 2009 and built a career in Project Controls and Project Management within the construction industry. However, my journey took a transformative turn when I discovered the beautiful practice of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST).
In February 2018, I experienced BCST for the first time, and it profoundly changed my life—a moment I’ll always cherish. Inspired by this gentle yet powerful modality, I began studying BCST in February 2021 and completed the required 10 seminars in April 2023. My learning journey continues, with a commitment to completing at least two postgraduate trainings annually.
Today, I have the privilege of working with clients of all ages—men, women, children, and infants—across Brisbane and beyond. My mission is to empower as many people as possible by encouraging them to build their own personal resource lists. BCST is one such resource, offering a path to self-healing. Teaching clients how to care for themselves outside of treatments is a vital part of my approach.
At my practice, I help clients find balance by guiding them to connect with their own bodies' innate ability to heal. This involves truly meeting clients where they are, listening deeply, and providing a safe, supportive space—something many have never experienced before.
